RE: Country table update
I quote from the other thread an hour ago:
New country table downloaded today. But, there is a but, I'm afraid.
First card to be registered UW9WB, in UFA, Bashkortostan oblast, UAAS. Region not available in the dropdown list. I can enter BA manually.
Seccond card. RA9FA. in Permskaya oblast, UAAS. No Oblast suggestion in Statistic overview window. Nothing in the dropdown list in the QTH tab of Add Qso window. Perm oblast cannot be entered (at least it is not recognised) manually.
I am reverting back to a backup copy of the previious country table. Though it had flaws, at least it was working.
Complex problem, this. Specially in the regions close to the Ural mountains and the "border" between Europe and Asia.

Update 1423 UTC: I have started the new country list again, and so far these callsigns are not recognized when I want to update the qsl status, and at the same time update Oblasts and RDA (when applicable):
UA0BBP, UA9CE, UA9FZ, UW9FW, RA9L, UA9X, RA9OA

RE: Country table update
According to this page, all russian callsigns with figures 8, 9 and 0 are in Asia:
http://ruqrz.com/new-russian-call-prefix-system-in-use/
From 2011, too old?
That also figures with those cards from Perm and Komi that I have come across. Lots of bewildering information out there, see also:
https://www.qrzcq.com/page/ruoblast
But this one from Clublog helpdesk is clarifying: https://clublog.freshdesk.com/support/so...pdate-2010,
as well as this: https://clublog.freshdesk.com/support/so...fying-qsos.

RE: Country table update
Hi Tom,
This page clarifies this:
https://clublog.freshdesk.com/support/so...tic-russia-
So the info from the RDXC site is the right one. A new country table will be released allocating PM and KO to UAEU and not UAAS as it is now. And also must be allocated to EU continent not AS as it is now.

RE: Country table update
Excellent. That is what I have concluded also. Sorry for all the fuzz, I do get a bit carried away when I dive into this. I wish I had the programming skills needed to modify the country file myself, like in the old DOS days, but unfortunately I am not able to do it, I am afraid.
Another thing that I spent too much time on is the matter of ITU zones, because they are mostly defined by coordinates and not the administrative units. One just have to be prepared that one has to check them manually, or just omit them unless they are stated on the qsl card. 95 of 100 cards do not mention ITU zone, and very rarely the qrz profile mentions it. Luckily it is possible to override the suggestions from Swisslog here.
Anyway, thanks for the prompt response, as allways. This level of service tends to make oneself rather spoiled.
