Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
Hallo

Hi Albin,

First of all, try to post your messages in English, this way all users will be able to understand. I have used Google translator because I don't speak German. You can do the same if you don't speak English. Google translator is very useful tool!

Swisslog supports the Hy Gain DCU-1. I will have to check for DCU-2 / DCU-3 because I guess they use different commands set.

Thank you for your report!

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
From original manual:

Software Control
Follow the instructions for the software
package that you use to control the rotator
for setup and operation. For example in Ham
Radio Deluxe the Rotator control module
asks for the Controller Type and the COM
Port number. Other software vendors may
also include the ability to directly control the
DCU-3 from within a logging or rig control
program. Use the DCU-1 (or DCU-3 if in
the list) and look for the COM port that the
DCU-3 is plugged into. For RS-232 you
should have a list of COM 1-4 (or more)
depending on what is installed in the
computer and you would choose the one that
the DCU-3 is plugged into. For USB you
should have the COM 1-4 list and then a
higher number COM list of the devices
plugged into the computer that act as virtual
com ports. Choose the one that the DCU-3 is
connected to. If you unplug the DCU-3 the
USB com port should no longer be
available. If you have chosen the correct
com port then when instructed by the
software the rotator should respond to the
commands. If not then try one of the other
com ports.

I use usb - com port 6!

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
And the commands

COMMAND SET
There are 2 commands the DCU-3 is
looking for that are sent as ASCII
characters.
Command: Result:
AP1***; Sets Target Bearing in DCU-3 (***is a three digit number between 000 and 359)
AM1; Starts Rotation to Target Bearing

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
Hi Albin,

According to this, commands are the same as DCU-1! If your problem is that rotor is not started, did you check the "Start automatically" check box in Options / Rotor interface???

Trank you for answer!

Yes the checkbox is active!
Everything is OK! Only the rotor apparently does not get the start command

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
Hi Albin,

Some rotors are very limited and this rotor only has 2 commands: set bearing to a specific bearing and start this action, nothing else. Please let me know what's the difference between HRD and Swisslog. I will appreciate if you have any additional command documentation but apparently DCU-3 it should work with DCU-1. Maybe it has more commands. Please send me the DCU-3 manual to support@swisslogforwindows.com

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
Hi Albin,

I have achieved the DCU-3 manual and should work well with the DCU-1 rotor option of Swisslog because it uses the same commands. Only set bearing and start turning to this nearing. Nothimg else. According to the manual:

"There are no provisions at this time to send current bearing information back to the computer."

So seems this control unit only is valid to set bearings from Swisslog and other software but you won't get any bearing info from this unit, so it's very limited comoared to other control units.

Please explain in detail what you mean about not" starting" because requesting turning the rotor from Swisslog should work. Make sure you have selected 4800 bauds, 8 start bits, 1 stop bit and parity None in the COM settings.

RE: Rotor hy-gain DCU-3
Hello Albin,

I think I have found the reason, a small delay of 200ms must be applied between both commands to work on DCU-3. I have uploaded a beta to test:

www.swisslogforwindows.com/Beta/SwisslV5.exe

Simply download and replace the EXE in the Swisslog folder.

Please let me know something as soon as possible! I want to release a new version this week and I would like to fix this.
