Multicast support to GridTracker

My scenario: JTDX and Swisslog on my Windows 11 computer and GridTracker on my networked Raspberry Pi.

What I have been doing: GridTracker will accept Multicast UDP messages from JTDX. I used IP 224.0.0.251 on port 2237 and it works as far as GT is concerned very well.
Unfortunately, only the Primary UDP Server in JTDX can be configured for Multicast. This means that a second and more limited server has to be used in JTDX to send log data to Swisslog. That works but of course I do not get the full features, the loss of which I have tolerated but now my tolerance has expired!

What would really help, if it could be done, is for Swisslog Main UDP input to forward to GT using the Multicast addressing noted above. I have checked forwarding, entered the 224.0.0.251 on port 2237 but it is not received by GT and in Wireshark I do not see anything leave Swisslog on that port. I suspect therefore that Multicast is not implemented, not surprising really hi. I wonder if it can be?

It is not absolutely critical. All it means at the moment is that GT will not track band changes and I have to manually do that in GT. But it would be nice if I could have all 3 programs working together.

QTH Name in QTH tab NOT to autofill

When I have QSOs, for example, with new US counties or POTA locations, I like to name the county or POTA reference in QTH field in Entry QSOs window and in the QTH name in the QTH tab as a new QTH. But if I use the POTA reference in the QTH Name in the QTH tab Swisslog will change the name to the QTH locator (which it has auto-filled in the QTH locator field of ADD QSOs) when I save the QSO.

Is it possible to stop this behaviour or to give a choice of entry in the QTH name? At the moment I have to save the QSO then edit it in a special routine by deleting the QTH locator reference that Swisslog has autofilled and re-inserting the QTH name I want to save and re-enter the POTA reference in the Statisitc table in the QTH tab.

Perhaps it is just me!

first of all thank you very much for your continous support of SwissLog !! Great !!

This is my request or idea based on my experience: I use quite often few rigs with different type of antenna, let say HF = dipoles, 50MHz = 6 elements, 144 = 10 elements yagi and so on.
The same is valid for transceiver type and so on ...

Sometime when I switch band, I forgot to select the correct that contain information about antenna, transceiver, power, etc ...

Would be possible to switch automatically the working conditions based on used bands ? Or something like that without going thru menu ?

would it be possible to copy and paste the Operator and QTH fields in the QSO input and also the first letter in capital letters.
This would make some operations much easier.

Locator entry with more digits

Hello,
Specially working with microwave size of this hobby, every detail in locator counts.

For example with the 3cm tests I am making, I am using locator with 8 to 10 digits.
But swisslog only accepts 6 chars.

Is there any way to increase this value?

Reroute Cat to another Com port

Hi Jordi,

Perhaps it would be useful to have the possibility to reroute the Cat on another port to share the information with, for example, an SDR decoder. With Omnirig it is not possible to take full advantage of the direct Cat capabilities of the transceiver, and sharing the serial port via VSPE slows down the VFO readout a lot.

Band Map and VFO-B

I usually have opened two band maps, one synchronised with the CAT and on the other I manually select the band to match the VFO B, which in my case is the second receiver of the FTDX5000. Could I also sync automatically with VFO-B?

Automatic LookUp of Callsign

Hello Jordi,

I think it could be useful if the query to Qrz.com, HamQth, HamCall or QrzCq could be automatic after filling in the callsign field. Then you would not have to use the mouse to activate it manually for each QSO, thus keeping the focus on the QSO log window.

I propose to add a new MEMBERSHIP feature. Please add "RRDXA" Rhein Ruhr DX Association Link: Rhein Ruhr DX Association – RRDXA This a big worldwide group of HAMs with focus on DX-expeditions and contests. I have agreed with the president Helmut Müller DF7EE that SWISSLOG has the permission to use the membership list on their web site Mitgliederliste – Rhein Ruhr DX Association – RRDXA. This free list can be downloaded as csv- file here: rrdxa-members.csv It is only about calls and no data protection law is touched.
From my perspective this could be done easily and quickly and usable for their award this year. For further question contact DF7EE Helmut (president) directly: helmut@df7ee.de

I am loving the software, and have a couple of possible requests.

First. Is it possible to add the country listing in a column which a user can select to be visible? This would be in the DX Messages window.I have a lot of new hams coming along in chasing dx in our club which I am president of and I am suggesting swisslog to them- this would help.

Second
Is it possible to add an interface to a SteppIR controller. I know you can do it via PST Rotator but a direct interface would be one less item to troubleshoot if there are problems.

Also can you add the Alfa RAK rotator controllers? Same as the Steppir.

Hello Jordi,

Did run into problems with QRZ.COM this evening, they went down for maintenance. Lots of errors from Swisslog when I tried to save a contact to QRZ.COM. The conacts (only two in my case, before I realized that the error was by QRZ) did not save to my log because Swisslog froze up.

Is it an idea to build some kind of option into Swisslog that warns when QRZ.COM is down?
